Frequently Asked
Questions
I would like to sign up with Nanny Care. How
do I get started?
Simply complete the Family
Application and Agreement and fax it into our office.
We will call you as soon as we receive it.
What are your fees?
We charge a $250 upfront fee with your application.
Upon hire, our placement fee is 12% of one year's gross
salary. For employment shorter than 90 days, the fee
is 25% of the total gross salary paid to employee during
employment.
What is included in your fee?
Every nanny that is registered with Nanny Care
has had an in-person interview with our nanny councilor.
The nanny fills out a 15 page nanny application & questionnaire.
The application allows us to get to know her and her
employment history. After she has completed the application,
the nanny councilor will go over her work history as
well as interview her personally. All nannies must have
a minimum of 5 years experience and excellent references.
In addition to screening the nannies, we offer a six-month
replacement period, registration with Trustline (if the
nanny isn’t registered already), updated CPR & First
Aid for the nanny (if needed), drug screening, and a
preliminary background check that incudes a residence
history check, up to 2 county criminal checks, and a
DMV report.
What happens after I send in my application?
After you sign up with us, we will call you to go over
your application. We will then start sending you
candidates who are looking for a position similar
to the one you are offering. We like to have the
candidates call you for a phone interview and from
there you can set up an in person interview. Before
you meet them, we will send you information on them.
You will receive a copy of their completed references
, a resume, and a letter stating why they are interested
in your position. After you meet the nannies, you
will need to call us and let us know which one(s)
you liked and who you would like to hire. On the
nanny you decide to hire, we will run a preliminary
background checkon them, and have them return for
a second meeting at our office to fill out the Trustline
paperwork (if not already completed). At that time,
we will sign her up for CPR and First Aid (if needed)
as well as send the nanny to have her drug screening
completed.
What is the average age of your nannies?
We have career nannies of all ages. Most of our nannies
are in their mid-twenties, thirties and forties.
We have some wonderful nannies that are married and
have raised their own children, as well as some who
are grandparents with extensive childcare experience.
Who are your candidates?
We represent only the most professional and
experienced nannies in the nanny industry. All candidates
registered with Nanny Care, must have a minimum of
5 years nanny or child care experience. All candidates
registered with Nanny Care are U.S. citizens or are
legal to work in the United States. All of our candidates
speak English fluently as a native or second language.
Most of our applicants have a university degree, teaching
credential or are high school graduates at the very
least. We do work with other reputable nanny companies
in order to get you the best nanny candidates possible.
How many hours per day is a household employee
expected to work?
On average a household employee will work eight
to ten hours per day, however this is negotiable. We
highly recommend that each family do a nanny work agreement
with the nanny so that there is no miscommunication on
what the exact hours and duties will be.

and our nannies are always drug screened.
How long will it take me to find a nanny though
your service?
It usually takes 1-6 weeks, depending on your
schedule. It's best to start the process 2-4 weeks before
you actually need somebody to begin working with you.
After reviewing your needs, we will start sending candidates
your way. We strongly encourage you to meet them right
away, since they will be interviewing with other families
too. It is important to let the nanny know if you are
interested in her, and to let us know which nanny you
like. Otherwise our candidate might be hired by someone
else in the meantime.
What is your interview and reference checking
process?
The checking process begins with an extensive
face to face interview at our San Diego office. Shortly
after, all references are contacted and verified. Once
you decide you would like to hire one of our nannies,
we will start the preliminary background check. This
should only take 3-5 days to get back. Please click here to
learn more about our extensive nanny screening process.
